Find a place to live
With a range of room options either on our compact campus or in the nearby, historic city centre, our accommodation is a great place to live and study. You’ll also be just a short walk, cycle or bus ride away from your department, the Library, and a range of study and social spaces.
Apply for funding
A range of scholarships and loans are available for research students, to help with the cost of tuition fees and living expenses. You can't usually apply for funding until you're holding an offer.

Our Virtual Open Days are the ideal way to find out more about postgraduate study at York. Some of our departments also offer a range of subject-specific events. All our events provide a chance for you to talk with staff and students about your course, the application process, funding opportunities and more.
Discover graduate life at York
Find out all you need to know about life as a research student at York, including campus events and facilities, city living, specialist careers support and training (RETT) and study or work abroad opportunities. We'll also tell you about how you'll be supported by our Graduate Research School, Graduate Students' Association, the college community and other support networks.
Prepare for your arrival
After you've accepted an unconditional offer, look out for a joining instructions email. It will contain information about enrolment and important things to do before you arrive.
