Module aims

This module provides an in-depth view on developing a team drawing on management theories. Grounded in themes such as global citizenship, sustainability and celebrating diversity and difference, this module explores contemporary issues surrounding leadership and management within organisations.

Module learning outcomes

By the end of this module, students should be able to:

  • Assess the political, economic, social and technological context of an organisation and how these factors may affect its leadership

  • Clarify the limitations of existing leadership structures / frameworks in relation to contemporaneous issues

  • Apply critical appraisals of different schools of thought concerning leadership - from across cultures and boundaries, imagined and otherwise - to the assessment of an organisation

  • Evaluate the possibilities for and implications of leadership development for an organisation
