Have you tried an e-scooter or e-bike?

E-scooters and e-bikes are available to shuttle across campus or to travel into the city centre.

Supplied and operated across York by TIER, an external supplier, e-scooters and e-bikes are a quick, easy and sustainable way to travel into the city centre or across campuses. With multiple parking bays situated on campus and in the city, it’s a convenient, fun and an environmentally friendly way to get around, if you are able to.

How does it work?

  1. Before you can use an e-scooter or e-bike, you’ll need to download the TIER app. 
  2. If you are using an e-scooter, you’ll also need to have your driving licence verified. 
  3. We strongly suggest you complete the AA-led ride safe school resources via the TIER app.
  4. You can then use the app to access e-scooters and e-bikes, see routes and find where to park.

Top tips: 

  • Plan your journey by checking the TIER app to ensure there are parking bays, to and from where you are heading. You’ll need to end or start a ride from the designated parking bays.
  • Don’t drink and ride! E-scooters and e-bikes are classed as vehicles and users should obey drink and drug driving laws, just like you would using a car. If you don’t, you could be stopped by the police and prosecuted.
