Could you be a buddy for new students in the autumn?

Posted on 10 May 2022

The team behind our Student Buddying Scheme are looking for UK and international students to give something back by supporting new students - while developing yourself and having fun!

Student Buddies help new undergraduates adjust to university life by being a friendly first point of contact for a small group of students. It's a targeted initiative to support new home undergraduate students in our under-represented student communities.

You'll spend approximately 2 - 5 hours per week supporting the students you are matched with. You will meet either individually or in a group and listen and share your own experiences. You'll also encourage new students to make the most of opportunities to get involved in university life and develop their own support networks.

You'll receive training to help prepare you for the role.

Eligibility

In order for these students to be offered the most appropriate peer support, we would like our Buddies to also be either:

  • home full time undergraduates who belong to at least one of our student communities
  • full time international students

Application deadline: 5pm on Wednesday 18 May
