Bereavement

Losing someone close to you is one of the most profound experiences you may go through.

It can be a confusing time, whether the death was expected or not, and can bring a variety of conflicting emotions and physical reactions.

How can I help myself through bereavement?

  • Look after yourself, eat properly and get enough rest.
  • Seek advice if using alcohol or drugs on a regular basis.
  • Try to accept help from friends and family, who will want to help you.
  • Remember it is alright to want to have some time on your own.

Talking about the person and your feelings can be enormously helpful.

Is there a correct way to grieve?

Grieving is a unique experience and there is no right way to do it. There is no set time limit for grief; take the time you need. As time goes on you'll find you're able to focus on happier memories and adjust to life without the person.
