What are the benefits of bringing in external research income? Why is it important to you and the institution? How much does research cost? 

Aspiring research fellows are invited to explore the topic of research funding, consider funder rules and how that might impact your decision making. 

This event is part of York’s Fellowship Launchpad: EXPLORE series, a series of nine short online sessions (45 minutes) introducing aspiring research fellows to key fellowship topics. The series is sequential helping you to build a strong foundational knowledge from which to start your fellowship application. Other topics include ‘Finding a Fellowship Mentor’, Choosing the Right Scheme for your Research’ and ‘Developing a Fellowship Application: Step by Step’.

In this session you will:

  • Discover the benefits of generating research income for the individual and the institution
  • Explore the Full Economic Costing (FEC) methodology
  • Consider how choice of funder can affect research income
  • Consider compliance & governance requirements of funding and how to get help with this
