Managing Sensitive Research Data: Key Principles

This online session, delivered by the Open Research team and Information Governance Team in Legal Services, will be of interest to postgraduate researchers (PGRs) and all staff involved in research using sensitive research data.
If you work with sensitive research data you will need to ensure that you manage this research data securely and adhere to any relevant legislation, contractual or ethical obligations in order to protect it.
This awareness raising session outlines some of the key principles to bear in mind when working with sensitive research data. Starting with planning for the management of sensitive data, to storing, collecting, archiving, sharing and protecting the sensitive data you may encounter as part of your work.
Learning objectives
By the end of this session, you will:
- have an understanding of considerations specific to working with sensitive research data, and why planning ahead is important
- know about the University’s processes for working with sensitive research data
- be equipped to start to consider the things you need to do when data archiving and sharing is planned.
