3D modelling/scanning appointments
Our 3D modelling appointments are available if you are working on a 3D project and looking for some guidance. This could be getting a model ready for 3D printing, or you'd like to have a go with our 3D scanners. Come along with a project you're working on.
Appointments are available between 3pm and 5pm on a Monday. Appointments begin from Monday 29th September 2025. UoY login required to book an appointment.
Audio and Podcasting support
If you're looking for support with how to edit your own audio files or need advice on producing a podcast, we offer an opportunity to come and speak to our team. Bring your own recordings along and we can assist you with your audio project.
Book an appointment to join us in the Library Creativity Lab (Harry Fairhurst Library Building) at times between 2pm and 4pm, every Wednesday. Book an appointment using the link below (UoY sign-in required). We can provide an online appointment instead, use the information box to let us know when you book the appointment.

For those looking for creative media support in other areas (such as Video Editing, 360 filmmaking and animation), we offer one-to-one appointments (online and in-person) to assist you with your Digital Creativity projects.
I think we are unbelievably privileged to have full unattended access to so many cool things such as a 3D printer, CRICUT machine, podcast studio, powerful computers and the ability to borrow such a wide variety of equipment!

Facilities and Podcasting
The Lab provides accessible desk space and features 16 high-end gaming workstations which are equipped with a range of creative editing software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, and access to game engines like Unreal and Unity. A wide selection of equipment is also available that allows you to explore Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), 3D design/scanning, podcasting, 360 filming and recording, plus much more.
The Creativity Lab's Podcasting studio provides a comfortable and functional space for you to record and host your podcast.
The Historic Towns Trust cartography session went extremely well, and we were able to do everything we wanted to do. Our Trustees were very impressed by the facilities, and I'm also pleased to know more about what the Creativity Lab can do!

Equipment hire
University of York staff and students can take advantage of the Creativity Lab's free equipment hire service. Equipment such as VR headsets, camera and audio equipment is available to use, with support from the Creativity Lab team of technical experts. The equipment can be booked online via our equipment catalogue. When booking, please ensure you read our terms and conditions.
