Managing and sharing your research data

Research data management refers to the active curation of research data throughout the research lifecycle.

Good practice in research data management enables the University and its researchers to meet the standards and responsibilities set out in the University's Code of Practice on Research Integrity and to meet funder, ethical, legal and other responsibilities. It is also essential for enabling and safeguarding the longevity and continuing intelligibility of research data.

To help you navigate the practicalities of managing and sharing your research data, we offer:

A practical guide to help you manage your research data well, covering best practice for the successful storage, organisation, documentation, archiving and sharing of research data. The guide includes resources, such as a briefing on RDM for supervisors of postgraduate researchers, and information on where further help can be sought.
RDM 101 is an online tutorial designed to provide you with an introduction to research data management. It's available to staff and postgraduate researchers in the Yorkshare VLE.
We offer a data management plan review service, where we will review your plan for you before you submit it.
The University needs to know about your archived datasets. If you have archived your dataset in an external data repository we will create a PURE dataset record for you.
Research Data York is a data repository for research undertaken at the University of York. The service aims to facilitate data discovery and data sharing.
