Security & lost property

Security

Don't give thieves a chance

Please remember to keep your property in sight at all times.

Unattended items, handbags on the floor and valuables in clothing hung on chairs are easy targets for thieves.

Please report any thefts or suspicious behaviour to Library staff.

Library staff patrol the buildings regularly to maintain a safe and appropriate environment for study.

For your security, please remember:

  • Keep your personal possessions safe with you at all times
  • Leave the library promptly when asked to do so in an emergency

In an emergency:

  • Please contact a member of staff at the Library Help Desk
  • Phone University Security on 01904 32 3333
  • The Raymond Burton Library has red emergency telephones in the Silent Study Room, main Reading Room and Microform Room, with direct access to the University Security.

Lost property

Lost property, with the exception of University cards, is kept at the Library Help Desk for one month before being sent to the central University lost property store controlled by Security staff.

University cards are sent straight to the Information Centre.
