The Library’s Family Study Room is a study space for students with children. You can work there alongside your children.

It’s an ideal space for short study sessions when you need to keep your children with you and occupied. Any age of child is welcome, but we have particularly designed the room with under-12s in mind.

You must register to use the room; see below for full details.

The Family Study Room is located in room LBU/003 on the ground floor of the Raymond Burton Library on Campus West. Turn right past the Library Help Desk and follow the corridor into the Burton building. The room is located close to toilets and baby changing facilities; it has level access for ease of entry with a pushchair.

What is in the room?

The Family Study Room is a dual use space, with half of the room given over for students with children to work and the other for your children to play. The student half of the room includes study desks and PCs. The children’s area provides a range of books, toys and specialist furniture for children.

Who can use the room?

The Family Study Room is available for any student with children currently enrolled at the University of York. We also allow registered users of the Family Study Room to bring a nominated guest with you when you and your child visit. For more details, please refer to our terms and conditions in the section below.

How can I send you feedback?

We would love to hear your thoughts about how we can develop the Family Study Room. Please email your comments to
lib-enquiry@york.ac.uk.

Why did we create this space?

The Family Study Room supports our University Strategy by empowering our students' education. Hear from students who use the room and Faculty Engagement Manager David Brown about what this means to them.
