Working Scientifically

All of our activities support children to think and work like scientists while working on topics within the primary science curriculum. However, the resources on this page are particularly useful for teaching working scientifically skills

Working Scientifically in the Primary Classroom

Our overarching guide to working scientifically is 'Working Scientifically in the Primary Classroom: Progression of enquiry skills from EYFS to KS3. As well as supporting teachers to plan progression, this document supports teacher and self-assessment of working scientifically skills. To support teachers to plan a full range of enquiry types, teachers can use the main search engine to search for different types of enquiry.

Role Badges

Role badges have been used by CIEC advisory teachers for many years. Due to their popularity with teachers, who comment how they promote team work amongst groups of children and lead to well ordered, productive practical lessons we are now making them available as a stand alone resource.
