Recent articles in the Journal of Emergent Science and the International Journal of Science havehighlighted the value of CIEC’s Children Challenging Industry programme.

Our latest activities dispel stereotypes about industry and help primary school children understand that many companies are working to solve problems around pollution and sustainability.

Our flagship CCI programme launched in September 2024 to schools and science-based companies based in and around Widnes, Manchester, Liverpool and Warrington.

The CIEC team has been working with the Oak National Academy since March 2023 to create resources for 400 new KS1 and KS2 lessons. Teachers now have full access to all of these high-quality science teaching and learning materials.

The Society of Chemical Industry Yorkshire and Humber Division has awarded its ‘Science for Society Award 2023’ to Joy Parvin from the University of York’s Centre for Industry Education Collaboration (CIEC).

Researchers at the University of York have been awarded £1.4 million to develop online science materials for schools.

Nicky was presented with her award in recognition for her interaction which has inspired, engaged and enthused many young people and their teachers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) over the past year.
