Continuo Assistantship
The recipient of this assistantship must provide accompaniment for Baroque Ensemble performances and other concerts as necessary.
Dixon Scholarship
This award arises from a benefaction by Ken and Pat Dixon, for Masters candidates specialising in performance.
Holmes Scholarship
This award arises from a benefaction by Terry Holmes, for postgraduate students specialising in composition.
International Liaison Assistant (China)
This post involves assisting the Postgraduate Administrator in communicating with Chinese applicants and agencies, making phone calls in Chinese, and acting as a point of contact for enquiries from prospective Chinese students.
Jazz Assistantship
The recipient of this assistantship will be required to help with the running of the Jazz Orchestra including their weekly rehearsals during semester time and any performances as necessary.
Sir Jack Lyons Research Scholarship
The Sir Jack Lyons Scholarship is for a PhD student. The scholarship provides a contribution towards fees equal to the full Home rate plus a contribution towards maintenance. The scholarship is for the duration of PhD registration (three years).
University of York Music Press (UYMP) Assistantship
UYMP publish and promote new and established composers with a range of aesthetic backgrounds. The UYMP Assistant will assist with all processes involved in music publishing.
Vinson Scholarship
The Vinson Scholarship originates from a bequest made to the School of Arts and Creative Technologies.
Vinson Sound Archives Assistantship
This post entails assisting with the University of York Sound Archives.
White Rose Arts and Humanities Doctoral Training Partnership
The White Rose College of the Arts & Humanities (WRoCAH) is a Doctoral Training Partnership of the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and York. The College is responsible for the distribution of AHRC-funded doctoral studentships for these universities.
Wilfrid Mellers Gamelan Assistantship
The Mellers Assistantship originates from a covenant from Music at York's founder, Professor Wilfrid Mellers. This assistant supports the directing and administering of Gamelan Sekar Petak.
York Concerts Box Office Assistantship
The Box Office is open on semester-time afternoons and concert evenings; the Box Office Assistants are also required to work occasional hours during the vacations, for example to set up new events on the box office system. The Box Office Assistants will be supported the Concerts General Assistant.
Young Musicians Choral Assistantship
This assistant supports the School of Arts and Creative Technologies' choral ensembles through various administrative tasks.
Young Musicians Instrumental Assistantship
This assistant supports the departmental instrumental ensembles, instrumental programme and the Performance Supervisor.
Commonwealth Scholarship
The University of York is a host university for the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission. Various opportunities are available throughout the year. The majority of awards are funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
John Monash Scholarship
The John Monash Scholarship provides yearly funding to outstanding postgraduate taught and research students from Australia.
NERC Panorama Doctoral Training Partnership
The NERC Panorama Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) has fully funded studentships for students looking to study the science of the Earth's atmosphere and climate, Earth processes and the living world.
RADMA Doctoral Studies Funding
The Research and Development Management Association (RADMA) Doctoral Studies Programme provides up to three years' funding to talented prospective or mid-study PhD students.
Tan Kah Kee Scholarships
The Tan Kah Kee Scholarship offers postgraduate scholarships for Singapore citizens and permanent residents pursuing full-time PhD or Masters degrees.
York Graduate Research School PhD Scholarship
We're pleased to offer up to six fully-funded PhD scholarships for UK candidates who self-identify as being from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME) background.
John Pilling Choral Scholarships
St Helen-with St Martin offer four choral scholarships lasting 12 months available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students: soprano, altos, tenors and basses.
Lyons Celebration Award
The award is made to a current postgraduate student to support a performance inspired by Bernstein's 'Chichester Psalms'.
Terry Holmes Composer and Performer Award
This will be awarded both to a postgraduate composer and performer to collaborate in the making of a new piece for both a soloist and ensemble.
St Wilfrid's Church Scholarship
The Oratory of St Philip Neri at St Wilfrid's Catholic Church offers choral scholarships for soprano, alto, tenor and bass to form a quartet.
York Minster Choral Scholarships
York Minster offers choral scholarships lasting 12 months or longer to altos, tenors and basses who are undergraduate or postgraduate students.
Yorkshire Bach Choir
We are now accepting applications for our choral scholarship scheme for 2023/24. The 12-month scholarships will be open to all four voice parts.
