Internal Audit

The purpose of Internal Audit is:

1. To provide reasonable assurance to Council via the Audit & Risk Committee (ARC) and to senior management that

  • risks are identified and managed;
  • financial, managerial and operational information is accurate, reliable and timely; and
  • activity is compliant with policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.

Internal Audit is a key component of the University’s comprehensive system of risk management, control and corporate governance, as required by the OfS’ conditions of registration.

2. To add value and improve the University's operations across its various systems, policies and procedures, providing independent and objective advice.

The University’s internal audit function is currently provided by an external firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PWC), appointed by the University Council following an open competitive tender process.

The University’s relationship with the internal auditors is managed by the University Secretary's Office, led by the University Secretary.
