Speaker: Professor Hannah Lewi from The University of Melbourne, Australia
Abstract: This talk will introduce a forthcoming co-authored book on adaptive reuse design of historic places in Australia. The book showcases best practice in adaptive reuse design through 23 case study projects drawn from the last ten years in Australia, and essays around sustainability imperatives, adapting to new ways of living and working; adaptive reuse and heritage policy.
Professor Hannah Lewi Bio: Hannah Lewi is a Professor in the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning at the University of Melbourne. She is co-director of ACAHUCH – The Australian Centre for Architectural History and Urban and Cultural Heritage, and is a past President of the Society of Architecture Historians Aus and NZ, and current vice-chair of DOCOMOMO Australia. Current research interests include new media for heritage representation, house museums and postmodernism in Australia. Recent books include ‘CAMPUS: Building Modern Australian Universities’, and ‘Australia Modern: Architecture, Landscapes and Design’ published by Thames & Hudson.
