Study midwifery

Challenge yourself to become an excellent future midwife.

Department of Health Sciences

Combine academic rigour with professional practice to become a highly skilled, knowledgeable and compassionate midwife, capable of delivering excellence throughout your career.

At York, we offer the choice of two innovative programmes to enable you to demonstrate excellence within your unique career. Subject to your achievements, you'll have the flexibility to choose the best route for you to meet your career aspirations.

Both our programmes provide contemporary theory and a range of clinical experiences to gain all the knowledge and skills needed to provide safe, universal and advanced midwifery care. You'll be supervised by experienced clinical midwives and supported by our established team of academics, who will provide expert guidance on your journey to becoming a registered midwife.

Once qualified, you will be able to care for and empower women, birthing people, newborns and families, and to excel in your midwifery career.

Please note: You only need to apply to either the BMid or the MMid course, not both.
