Why study midwifery at York?

We offer an innovative midwifery course designed to support your journey to becoming a confident, competent and compassionate Registered Midwife.

Our course provides contemporary, research-informed theory alongside a wide range of clinical experiences, giving you all the knowledge and skills you need to deliver safe, universal and advanced midwifery care. You’ll be supervised by experienced clinical midwives and supported by our dedicated team of academic staff, who will guide and nurture you throughout your studies.

By the end of the course, you'll be equipped to to provide safe, evidence-based care for women, birthing people, newborns and families across the maternity continuum, from preconception to the early postnatal period. Once qualified, you'll be deemed as an accountable and autonomous practitioner, ready to thrive in your midwifery career.

Our midwifery course is fully-accredited with the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative with Sustainability (Gold Award). The award sets standards for facilitating effective parent-baby relationships and choices regarding infant feeding.
