Interview information for midwifery
Our selection days are designed to be a positive and informative experience. They give you the opportunity to visit the department, meet our staff and current students, and demonstrate your motivation and potential for a career in midwifery. Interviews usually take place in person, but can be undertaken online at request.
What to expect
Here are some key things to know about what you'll need to bring and what to expect on the day:
- Please bring an official photo ID and your UCAS number.
- You will be interviewed by one or two panel members, with one of them being a member of the midwifery education team. You will be allocated a time slot for this interview in advance.
- You will be emailed a pre-recorded presentation a week before your interview which will provide key information about the midwifery course. If you have further questions about studying midwifery at York, you can ask these to the panel members at the interview.
- You can also spend some time in our Clinical Simulation Unit (CSU), where you will have the chance to chat with current students.
- We may have some final year students, practitioners and service users involved in interviews. Please be assured no one is privy to any confidential information and you do not need to declare this to anyone at this stage.
- We want you to feel welcome, to relax and enjoy the day as much as you can.
If you cannot attend
If you cannot attend please let us know as soon as possible. We can then offer you another interview and offer your original place to another applicant. If you do not attend or contact us, we will assume that you are no longer interested in a place at the University of York.
