If you're an international applicant there are some additional factors to consider as part of your application.
English language requirements
If English is not your first language, you may be asked to provide evidence of your English language ability to the required level, in addition to any academic entry requirements.
If you've not met our English language requirements
We offer a range of pre-sessional English language courses which can be used for entry to degree-level courses.
You can apply online once you receive and accept your offer. These courses are popular, so apply early to avoid disappointment.
Country-specific entry requirements and accepted qualifications
To ensure the qualifications you are studying or have studied are considered suitable for entry to York, please check the relevant country-specific information.
For some of our Masters courses, if you do not meet the entry requirements you can prepare via a Pre-Masters programme in York or London. If you successfully complete the course to the required level you will be guaranteed a place on your chosen Masters degree at York.
If you require a Student Visa
If you require a Student Visa (formerly Tier 4 Visa) to study in the UK, you will need a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). You can request your CAS after you have accepted an offer. We can issue your CAS once your offer becomes unconditional, and not longer than six months before your course starts.
The following deadlines for your CAS apply if your course starts in:
September 2021: 11:59pm GMT, 15 September 2021
Tuition fee deposits
If you are starting your course in January 2021 or later, you may need to pay a tuition fee deposit.
