This module enables you to put the skills developed in other modules into action as you develop a 20-30 minute performance piece. Each year, a brief will be set within which you will work. Across the module, you will explore the multivalent skills and practice required in a collaborative theatre company working towards a shared goal. In the first half of this module you will work alongside MA Playwriting students, to conceive, devise and develop a performance project in a shared rehearsal room setting. In the second half of this module you will rehearse and refine the material generated, working towards high-quality performances for a public audience. The final production will be semi-staged, with technical support to implement simple set, lighting and sound plans.

By the end of the module you will be expected to:
This will be a guided collaborative project, where you will work in response to a range of prompts to develop, refine, and stage material for performance.
Working in small groups, and in collaboration with MA Playwriting students, you will work in response to creative prompts, through stages of research and development, through an enlightened rehearsal process, and into performance. Module teaching will provide structure and guidance, exploring ways of working in relation to a range of creative materials and exploring ways of refining your work for performance. You will rehearse and prepare performance work in independent scheduled rehearsals, and, as the module progresses, taught sessions will respond to that work with feedback and guidance. This is a collaborative project, where you will work in groups determined by your own interests and each member of the group will contribute fully, actively and equally to the performance project.

You will receive written feedback in line with standard University turnaround times, with an option of an individual follow-up meeting if any aspect of the feedback is unclear or if more guidance on interpreting the feedback is requested.
On this module, formative feedback will be given in teaching sessions for practical work towards the assessment.
As the brief for the reflective essay will be similar to that of the preceding module, there is no formative assessment.
This will vary depending on the choice of project, and will be issued well in advance of the module.
