Module aims
Internships are designed to provide hands-on experience in public policy research, analysis and practice. The aim of the internship component is to facilitate students' (re)intergration into the international job market upon graduation, build networks and professional contacts at hosting organisations, and allow students to apply and re-examine theoretical knowledge gained through the coursework in light of practical experience.
Module learning outcomes
Internships should contribute to the development of transferable skills in the sphere of public policy. The learning outcomes will vary depending on the placement, but must involve substantive work such as drafting policy documents, collecting, processing and analyzing relevant data, interacting with stakeholders, or research.
At the conclusion of the placement students should be able to:
- provide a detailed description of the tasks performed, making clear the relevance of the activity for his / her studies e.g. making links to a body of literature, one or several of their first year courses or their thesis report
- combine and apply the knowledge obtained in previous work and during the study undertaken at consortium institutions
- obtain insights into the mission and policy of the hosting organization
- obtain hands-on practical work experience
- produce a concise summary report about the experience
