Module aims
The purpose of the module is to successfully complete a substantial piece of written work based on extensive independent research into a particular policy questions / policy. The Policy Report will show the qualities of analysis, synthesis, power in argument and clarity of exposition required of a level 7 student, successfully evidencing the skills in argument, writing and independent thought and research expected of the best graduates.
Module learning outcomes
The student will have successfully completed a major piece of independent research, organised around a clear and well formulated research question. He or she will have located his or her arguments in the context of wider scholarly debates and will have advanced the state of the discipline in the answer to the question given, developing lines of argument which are original to the dissertation.

Module feedback
Assessment: written feedback within 6 weeks of submission;
Reassessment: Re-assessment is only available for students whose mark falls within the 'marginal fail' category (40-49). These students can make amendments to their work sufficient to raise their mark to 50. The re-assessment would be in the form of a re-submission of the Policy Report within 2 weeks of receiving the first attempt mark. The mark after re-submission is capped at 50.
