Industrial Project - ELE00078M
- Department: Electronic Engineering
- Credit value: 100 credits
- Credit level: M
- Academic year of delivery: 2022-23
- Notes: This is an independent study module
Module will run
NoneModule aims
The overall module aims are similar to those of the Project Development and Research Project modules but the research/programming project will be either be a) undertaken in an industrial setting with appropriate supervision given by academic and industrial supervisor, or b) undertaken in the department but on a project specified by an industrial partner. In the latter case the student will be expected to report progress and results of the research to the specified industrial partner contact.
Main aims
- the presentation/demonstration at the MA/MSc conference allows students to develop and demonstrate the skills of verbal presentation and communicating research
- the extended literature review and project plan allows students to investigate an area of interest and to scope an extended research or programming project
- the project website/blog allows students to develop skills in communicating research to the general public
Students should submit their topic choices by week 2 of the Spring Term.
It is expected that students meet their project supervisor regularly during the course of the industrial project via Skype or face-to-face meetings as appropriate and then plan a suitable schedule of at least 4 supervision meetings during the Summer Term/Summer Vacation period in agreement with their supervisor.
It is understood that regular face-to-face meetings may not always be possible during the Summer Vacation period, but students/supervisors will be encouraged to keep in contact via regular emails and/or Skype meetings where appropriate.
