Students who were on study and work placements in 2024/25 will be invited to a workshop that helps them use their experience in applications for opportunities after graduation.

Global Opportunities Fair - 2pm to 5pm, Ron Cooke Hub
Come along to our Global Opportunities Fair to find out how to apply for opportunities to study, work and volunteer abroad. Speak to Global Opportunities staff and meet York students who have been abroad. Discover more about independent travel opportunities from representatives of international volunteering organisations.

Come along to our Summer Opportunities Information Session to find out how to apply to study, work or volunteer abroad during the summer vacation.  There'll be representatives from Seoul National University and University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Our Global Assistant will also be sharing her experience of summer opportunities.

Semester 2

Workshops for students due to go abroad in summer 2026 or the academic year 2026/27.

  • applications to host universities
  • the Mobility Online system

  • travel insurance

Pre-departure Workshop and Social 1 (for Year Abroad students), 2pm to 4pm, in B/T/005

The first in a series of workshops to help you prepare for your time abroad. Learn about your key contacts, your Mobility Online account, applying to your host institution, and essential paperwork and deadlines. There'll be a chance to connect with other students heading to the same region and chat to Global Opportunities staff.

Pre-departure Workshop and Social 2 (for Year Abroad students), 2pm to 4pm, in B/T/005

Get ready to explore funding opportunities, prepare your finances, complete your Academic Recognition/Grade Conversion Checklist and Learning Agreement, and arrange your visa, passport and other travel necessities. Chat to Global Opportunities, Disability Services and Student Finance staff, as well as visiting students from our partner universities and other students heading to the same region.

Pre-departure Workshop and Social 3 (for Year Abroad and Summer Exchange students), 2 to 4pm, in B/T/005.

Wondering how to stay safe abroad? Let the University's Health and Safety and Insurance Teams walk you through the Travel Authorisation Process, including risk assessment, insurance and health and safety tips. We'll also provide further opportunities to chat with Global Opportunities staff and other students heading to the same region.

Pre-departure Workshop and Social 4 (for Year Abroad and Summer Exchange students), 2pm - 4pm, in B/T/005.

This is the final workshop where you can chat with Global Opportunities staff and connect with other students heading to the same region. Build your resilience ahead of your travels with the University’s Open Door Team. Find out from Global Opportunities what tasks you need to complete on arrival at your destination, during your time abroad and once your placement has finished.
