Key service updates for if you'll be studying, researching or working in York this summer.

Library and study spaces

From Saturday 7 June, the University Library will return to eco-mode operating times. Check the Library web pages for all the latest times and updates.

From 23 June, the Library café will be closed until the autumn for a major refurbishment over the summer to improve space, circulation and usability. In the meantime, there will be a pop-up café at Greg’s Place, open Tuesdays to Thursdays.

The IT support-drop in sessions will continue to run between 2 and 4pm every Monday, Wednesday and Friday throughout the summer.

From Monday 16 June, there will be some key changes to Library services offered at King’s Manor.

Campus disruptions

  • Essential lift upgrade and replacement works means some lifts may be out of action for a while over the summer.
  • Campus South and Campus Central car parks are affected by Open Day car park closures around the weekend of 21-22 June.

See campus disruption notices for more information.

Helpdesk times

The University Facilities Helpdesk will be open as usual, 7.45am to 4.45pm Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). Emergency faults can still be reported at any time during the Bank Holidays or outside of regular hours. For non-emergencies, call +44 (0)1904 32 4444, or for more urgent concerns, call +44 (0)1904 323333.

Catering and shops

Retail and catering outlet opening times may be impacted by upcoming on-campus events such as Open Days, Graduation and public bank holidays. Visit the Eat, Shop, and Drink opening times page to see what’s open and when.

Launderettes

All campus launderettes will remain accessible during the summer and will be open as usual. If your college’s launderette is closed for any reason, you can go to your nearest reception and ask the receptionist for a key to access another launderette.

Travel

From Sunday 8 June until Sunday 7 September, First Bus will be running a reduced summer service for University bus routes. Stay up-to-date and check your travel using the First Bus web pages.

Reception services

Reception hours remain unchanged over the vacation, with the Reception Teams available from 7am to 11pm, in addition to overnight support provided by the Mobile Response Team. Visit the Reception Services web page for more details on their services and hours.
