Work begins on new Student Centre site - from 3 May

During this time our contractors will set up their site and hoardings will be erected. Central car park will also be partially closed. New accessible bays will be located as close as possible to the hoarding to allow access to the lift and bridge and the current bays close to Spring Lane Building will be unaffected. Other drivers are advised to use alternative car parks on campus, with the nearest Pay and Display located behind the Library.
The work will involve the stripping out of the buildings to be demolished (the old Security Centre, IT Services and Student Administration buildings). Following this, the buildings will be taken down. It is anticipated that this portion of work will be completed before Graduation in July.
Though some level of disruption is inevitable during a development of this size, we are working to minimise any disturbance. We are engaging with neighbouring departments and teams to try and reduce any issues this work will cause. If you have any specific concerns please contact campus-development@york.ac.uk.
