Parking charges on campus

Posted on 25 August 2020

Parking charges on campus have been suspended since April. As campus reopens in September, the University has decided to start charging for parking again.

This will encourage people to use sustainable modes of transport, such as walking or cycling, avoid car parks becoming full and parking overflowing into local neighbourhoods, and discourage people who don't have a reason for being on campus from parking here.

Here's what you need to do:

  • If you wish to continue with your annual permit, you don't need to do anything.
  • If you would like to change your permit type, or cancel it altogether, you need to:
  • If you cancelled your permit in March or chose not to renew because you stopped travelling to campus, but you are now going to start parking on campus again, you need to apply for a new permit.

If you no longer wish to have an annual permit, you must cancel your permit by Thursday 10 September to avoid payments being taken.

Other permit options are available if you don’t need to park on campus every day. If you only park occasionally, you can apply for a flexible use permit which can be purchased in multiples of 5 or 10.

From September, pay and display parking will be charged online to avoid cash transactions. Fines will be issued for dangerous, inappropriate or unpaid parking.
