Mentally Fit York fund now open

Posted on 11 June 2020

Up to £2,000 available to support mental health-related projects on campus.

York Unlimited | Mentally Fit York

The Mentally Fit York fund is now accepting applications from across the University for grants of up to £2,000 to projects that are involved in supporting and improving public mental health on a local, national or international scale.

Mentally Fit York was created as part of the York Unlimited fundraising campaign at the University of York. Its aim is to transform mental health (through public mental health and prevention) on a local, national and international scale, by supporting on the ground initiatives and the latest groundbreaking research.

The fund has so far supported the University’s investment in the Big White Wall (an online resource providing 24/7 mental health support for students during the Covid-19 pandemic), scholarships for students on the Mental Health Nursing programme, and the Student Psychological Wellbeing cohort study.

The fund is now open for applications from departments, centres or colleges of the University of York, or YUSU registered societies to support projects that fall into one of the following categories:

  • Piloting mental health initiatives with potential benefit for public mental health and prevention within the University and/or local community;
  • Equipment and/or project resources to support mental health initiatives;
  • Developing and priming research projects to contribute to the evidence base on preventing mental health problems.

To apply for a grant, please fill in the application form in as much detail as possible.
