Upcoming changes to Thesis Advisory Panel (TAP) and Progression meetings for PGRs
Posted on Wednesday 8 July 2026
All new and continuing PGRs who are in their normal period of enrolment at the start of Semester 1 (21 September 2026) will be moved to the new system. A transition period across September - October will apply to continuing PGRs (see below).
Why are TAPs and progression changing?
We are making these changes to ensure that we treat all our PGRs equitably and consistently, and to make sure that you have the best possible preparation for your final examination.
The system we are moving to is one already in use in many schools and departments across the University. This means that some PGRs will see little change to their TAP and progression meetings, whereas PGRs in other schools and departments may be aware of greater changes.
Transition period for current PGRs
We will have a transition period for continuing PGRs (excluding those on Leave of Absence) covering September and October 2026. The current TAP and progression forms will remain on SkillsForge until 1 November so that they can be used - with reference to the current Policy - by continuing PGRs who have a TAP or progression meeting in September or October 2026 (ie including continuing PGRs with a progression extension until 1 November 2026).
