Many organisations offer tailored funding for specific events and opportunities.
We subscribe to the Alternative Guide to Postgraduate Funding, which lists grants, trusts and charities that could help fund travel to a conference or other part of your research.

Your department may also offer funding opportunities or advise you on sources of funding for your area of interest.
York Graduate Research School (YGRS) PhD Scholarships
Up to six fully-funded PhD scholarships for UK candidates who self-identify as being from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME) background, and are eligible to pay UK (Home) student fees. These scholarships cover tuition fees at UK (Home) rate, a UKRI-aligned stipend, and a research training support grant. You can find out more on our YGRS scholarships page.
YGRS Conference Fund
Self-funded PGRs can apply for funding to attend UK and international conferences when other funding options have been exhausted.The YGRS Conference Fund has four deadlines throughout the year in September, December, March and June. Please note that if you have already been awarded YGRS conference funding, you cannot re-apply to another round.
The closing date for the next round of funding is midnight on 1 June 2024.
Apply for funding by completing the form below and gaining your supervisor's approval. Supervisors should send the completed form to pgr-administration@york.ac.uk.
