Margaret Cavendish was a 17th-century scientist, philosopher, novelist and celebrity. Her Blazing World (1666) is one of the earliest English novels, one of the first works of science fiction, and also an early piece of popular science, outlining her criticisms of the Royal Society - Margaret was the first woman to attend a meeting in 1667.

Join Tom StonehamKeith Allen and Sarah Cawthorne as they introduce Margaret’s Blazing World through her association with Bolsover Castle (English Heritage), the Derbyshire pleasure palace of the Cavendish family.
