During December 2018, we will be carrying out work designed to improve our network - for instance, by upgrading the capacity of network infrastructure in our datacentres and moving to the latest, most secure firmware.
Some of this work will cause network outages. Due to our investment in modern datacentre design, outages will usually be quite brief - lasting seconds, rather than minutes. Wherever possible this work will take place during the scheduled network at risk periods (4am - 9am on Tuesdays, and 7am - 9am on Thursdays). We'll share information about each piece of planned work via the Departmental Computing Officers email list, and via our Scheduled Work Calendar.
