Aims

This module introduces students to the principles and practice of Geographical Information Systems. 

  • to examine how GIS can be applied in archaeology, and to explore the issues raised
  • to provide a practical introduction to the use of GIS and its application in archaeology

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of this module you should:

  • gain an outline understanding of the use of GIS in various aspects of archaeological investigation and analysis
  • display a clear understanding of the practical skills in the use of GIS
  • be able to apply GIS techniques to your own projects
