AI Guidance

Before you start using Generative AI tools in your work or study it's important to read the University's guidance on AI to understand some very key information, including:

  • In what scenarios can you use AI to assist your work and study
  • What are the University's recommended AI tools and how can they assist you

Our university communities

There are a number of communities at York that focus on how we can adopt AI into our practices in innovative, ethical and safe ways.

External communities of practice

Below are some recommended external communities you may wish to explore.

  • Generative AI Network (GAIN): an inter-institutional community of practice and network that shares policy, proactive in developments in the use of Generative AI in pedagogic contexts
  • JISC Artificial Intelligence Community: a place where those working in tertiary educational institutions in the UK and key stakeholders can discuss the use of artificial intelligence in an educational setting.
  • JISC Accessibility Community Group: a place to connect with peers to learn more about meeting accessibility regulations and co-create resources to avoid duplicating work
