Student at work

"For me the online aspect was the most appealing thing about this course; I doubt that I would have been able to do it otherwise. I liked the idea of being able to log in and study at times to suit my lifestyle, while retaining a structured learning framework."

Alison, Online Masters in Public Management

Online and distance learning

York has a range of distance learning courses that offer an innovative and flexible approach to study.  These courses deliver all the hallmarks of a York education to students who need to study at a distance because of geographical location, work or personal commitments. These courses reflect York’s commitment to quality, relevance and student support and enable you to be a full member of the York community.

Most of the courses are designed to meet professional development needs, and reflect the benefits of online learning in this context.

Our distinctive approach to distance learning is based on:

  • Interaction.  The programmes harness the experience that participants bring and provide an international, collaborative learning community spanning organisations, sectors and countries
  • Rich learning resources. As well as the specially-developed course materials, you will have full access to the University’s extensive e-Library
  • Support.  Like all our students, you will receive extensive personal academic and pastoral support.  Our programmes offer expert supervision, module tutors, personal pastoral care and friendly contact points for day to day advice.
