It’s time to reconnect, reflect, and regrow! You’re warmly invited to join us for an Away Day at the beautiful Yorkshire Arboretum to relaunch/reinvigorate the InTREEgue network, which brought together colleagues from across disciplines who work with trees in all kinds of fascinating ways.

This is our chance to revive the network after our initial inception meeting last year and shape what comes next—while also celebrating the richness of our shared interests. The day will be a blend of planning and play, grounding us once more in the creative and collaborative potential of working with trees.

What to Expect

🌿 Multisensory nature walk through the arboretum, with storytelling and poetry to spark our senses.
 🌳 Lively planning discussion after lunch: let’s co-design the next steps, events, and explore who can help lead the way.
 🌱 'Trees Through Time' speed talks to end the day—hear from across disciplines how we engage with trees past, present, and future. Contact us if you’d like to give a 3-5min talk.

Whether you're deep in tree data, working with tree metaphors, or exploring forests in literature, this is a space to reconnect with fellow researchers, share ideas, and grow something new together.

Places are limited to 36 and priority will be given to existing InTREEgue network members. If you register and can no longer make it please let us know so we can give your space to someone else.

Transport and lunch will be provided by the University of York.

Agenda

Coach Travel

  • 09:45 – Meet at University Road, YO10 5DD (the coach will pick us up from the bus bay under library bridge)

  • 10:00 – Coach departs

  • 10:30 – Arrive at Yorkshire Arboretum, YO60 7BY

At the Arboretum

  • 10:30–12:00 – Multi-sensory nature walk with readings/storytelling

  • 12:00–13:00 – Lunch

  • 13:00–14:00 – Planning discussion

    • Confirm two events and organisers for the rest of the year

  • 14:00–15:00 – Research activity: Speed talks

    • Up to 6 short talks on the theme Trees through Time

    • Explore trees in the past, present, future – or across time

Return Travel

  • 15:15 – Coach departs from Yorkshire Arboretum

  • ~16:00 – Return to University Road, YO10 5DD (the coach will drop us off at the bus bay under library bridge)
