York Virtual Visit

We've got the best of both worlds - a green, parkland campus within walking-distance of one of the UK's most iconic city centres.

Our accessible campus has two main areas: Campus East and Campus West. We also have the historic King's Manor in the centre of York.

We offer outstanding study facilities and welcoming social spaces, so you'll have everything you need to make the most of your university experience.

200 acres of scenic parkland

on our green, landscaped campus

20,000+ students from 150+ countries

all part of our diverse, global community

2 lakes and a bird sanctuary

A wide range of wildlife and waterfowl

The campus is bursting with nature and wildlife, home to rabbits, squirrels and wildfowl. I've enjoyed taking walks on campus with friends and feeding the ducks in my free time. The campus environment really makes York feel like its own community and hub of activity. Everything is in one place instead of scattered and spread out across different locations.

Campus West

Campus West is an inspiring environment for you to study and live in, with a mix of modern and characterful 1960s buildings, a lake and a variety of wildlife. The original and largest area of campus, where lots of our departments, colleges and facilities are based.

Central Hall

Central Hall is the distinct centerpiece of Campus West. It's where most of our students start and finish their university experience.

It's where we hold our real life Open Day welcome talks and it's the place where you'll eventually graduate.

Greg's Place

This is an open outdoor space and vibrant community hub.

Here you can socialise, enjoy events and soak up the sun in summertime. You might want to get a graduation photograph here too!

The library

Open 362 days of the year, our extensive library is the perfect place to study, research and read. Our main library contains three buildings - JB Morrell, Harry Fairhurst and Raymond Burton.

As well as the central library, there are specialist libraries at King's Manor in the city centre and York Minster Library in Dean's Park.

Campus East

Campus East is a hub of creative activity, where you'll find our extensive media complex and modern teaching buildings with dedicated areas for collaboration. It is home to four departments, four colleges and excellent sporting and community facilities.

It's just a 20-minute walk, 10-minute cycle or e-scooter ride, or a quick and free bus ride away from Campus West.

Ron Cooke Hub

Ron Cooke Hub is the central point of Campus East. Inside we have the Island of Interaction, which is a wonderful collaborative workspace students can work in.

There are prayer facilities, a 360 degree immersive video space, the atrium (which is used for exhibitions and fairs), as well as seminar spaces and a lecture hall. Right outside, there are three lakeside study pods you can book out to study in a scenic setting.

The Piazza Building

You'll find high-quality, flexible learning spaces and resource centres in the Piazza Building. Our International Pathway College is also based here, where our English language pre-sessional courses and pathway courses take place.

It also houses a Starbucks and canteen facilities. This is where every Campus East student also gets a free evening meal once a week with their college.

York Sport Village

Our flagship sports centre at Campus East will give you access to a wide range of first-class sport, fitness and health facilities.

Facilities include a 120-station gym, 250m velodrome, fully floodlit 3G football pitches, two pools and a health suite.
