If we already have your exam results, and you meet the conditions of our offer, we'll be able to make a final decision. You can check that your UCAS Hub (ucas.com) has updated to confirm your place at York. UCAS will then send you a confirmation letter.

Well done – you can breathe a sigh of relief!

EU and international students

If you're an international student (not including Hull York Medical School applicants), you'll need to send us your grades for assessment via You@York. Please refer to your offer email for your login details and instructions of how to submit them. If you can't send us your grades through You@York, please get in touch at ug-admissions@york.ac.uk.

If you don’t meet the conditions of our offer, make sure to check your UCAS Hub (ucas.com). We may have been able to accept you, or we may contact you by email with an offer for an alternative course.

EU and international students

You should still send us your grades via You@York, as we may still be able to accept you. Please refer to your offer email for your login details and instructions on how to submit them.

We may not be able to let you know our decision straight away. In this case, we’ll consider your application alongside other applicants whose results are released on A level results day.

We're sorry that you didn’t get into your firm choice. However, we’re delighted that you're coming to York – we know you'll enjoy your time here.

If you're a UK student, there's no need to get in touch with us. All you need to do is check that your UCAS Hub (ucas.com) has updated to confirm your place, and then you’ll receive a confirmation letter from UCAS.

If you're an EU or international student (not including Hull York Medical School applicants), you'll need to send us your grades for verification via You@York. Please refer to your offer email for your login details and instructions of how to submit them.

If you don't meet the requirements for your firm or insurance conditional offer, you'll be automatically put into Clearing.

Every UK student has the right to appeal their grades (gov.uk). If you want to appeal, you'll need to let your school or college know as soon as possible – they will submit a formal appeal on your behalf.

If you're a private student, mature student or homeschooled, you can appeal directly to the awarding organisation.

International students should contact their school or college directly for advice on appeals.

You should check government guidance before you appeal, so you understand the potential outcomes of appealing a grade (gov.uk).

Let us know if you're appealing your grades

If you do decide to appeal your grades, it’s really important that you let us know straight away at ug-admissions@york.ac.uk. Remember to include your UCAS Personal ID in the email. Also tell us which qualification and subject you're appealing and, if you know, an estimated date of when you'll receive the outcome of your appeal. We won't receive your new grade automatically, so make sure to let us know.

We may not be able to hold your place while awaiting the results of any appeals. Dependent on your course, the latest we can hold places is either 30 August or 4 September 2024. In some circumstances, we may offer you a deferred place.
