The Brazilian Association of Postgraduate Students and Researchers in the UK provides support services to Brazilian postgraduate students in the UK. They organise events and activities such as the annual Conference, an annual meeting with the Brazilian Ambassador to the UK and debates with Brazilian scholars.
In 2023, we welcomed:
- 85 students from Latin America
- 16 students from Brazil.
They're studying a range of subjects including Physics, Politics, Psychology, and Women's and Gender Studies.

Funding, scholarships and loans
We offer a number of scholarships and funding opportunities for international students:
- Undergraduate funding, scholarships and loans
- Postgraduate taught funding, scholarships and loans
- Research degree funding, scholarships and loans
We award many international scholarships every year, recognising achievement by applying a tuition fee discount:
- International Achievement Scholarship
- Dean's Global Excellence Scholarship
- International Regional Scholarship
Support for postgraduate studies abroad through this non-profit organisation that invests in the development of high-potential young people (up to 34 years old) who will transform Brazil through work in various sectors.
Other sources of funding
There are a number of external funding bodies that exist to support study in the UK. Government departments, international agencies, charitable organisations and private companies may also be able to provide financial support for certain subject areas. If there is a local British Council office near you they can provide up-to-date advice on what is available for your country and you can search for scholarships online.
Certificado de Ensino Médio
If you're studying the Certificado de Ensino Médio you will need to take an additional course before being able to apply for an undergraduate course at York. This could be A levels, the International Baccalaureate or a recognised foundation course.
US High School curriculum
If you're studying the US High School curriculum, please see our US undergraduate entry requirements. Other post school qualifications may also be considered for entry to York on a case by case basis.

Postgraduate taught courses
For a postgraduate taught course, such as a Masters, you would normally need a Bachelors degree from a recognised institution in a relevant subject.
Typically you would need at least the equivalent to a UK upper second class honours degree (2:1), however some courses will accept lower second class honours degrees (2:2). Actual requirements will vary by course.
- A score of 7.5 out of 10 is considered comparable to a UK 2:1
- A score of 6.5 out of 10 is considered comparable to a UK 2:2
Research degrees
For a research degree such as an MPhil or a PhD, you would normally need a Bachelors degree, plus either a Masters degree in a relevant subject, or some experience of conducting research.

Undergraduate
To apply to York, you will need to complete an application via UCAS (the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service).
Apply for an undergraduate course
Postgraduate
You can apply online for taught Masters courses and research degrees. You can apply all year round in most cases but we recommend that you apply as early as possible due to competition for places and funding application deadlines.
