Funding available for student-led groups and projects

Are you looking for funding for an extra curricular project in your department, college, club or society? Thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends of the University of York, funds are available to support you through two different channels.

YuFund: apply for a grant

YuFund is supported by donations from alumni and friends of the University of York, aiming to provide students with as many opportunities as possible. YuFund gives grants to developmental and community projects run by student clubs and societies, departments and colleges in recognition of the vital role they play in the student experience. It is intended as a way to fund the development of projects rather than its operational costs.

Please apply by completing the application form and giving as much information as possible; grants will be awarded solely on the basis of this application, so please ensure that you've included all the necessary information for the panel to make an informed decision.

The deadline for this round of applications is 12pm on Monday 16 May 2022. Applicants will hear their outcome after the YuFund Panel Meeting on Wednesday 8 June 2022.

YuStart: crowdfund from your network of friends and family

YuStart is the University’s crowdfunding platform, and can help you raise money for projects that benefit University of York students, the University itself or the wider community. It also allows donors to connect with your campaign and receive small rewards for their support. Crowdfunding is a great way to get involved and raise money for projects, ideas and events!

So, if you want to make a film, buy a new kit for your sports team, put on a play, make a CD, or perhaps even fund your research into some of the world’s challenges - YuStart could be the place for you!

When you use YuStart, you can benefit from one-to-one bespoke support from our YuStart team - we can give advice on crafting your campaign, building your crowd and turning your idea into a reality. And if your project is eligible, you could also benefit from match funding of up to £500 from the University!
