York IT ReUse Project: Your old laptop can change someone’s life

Posted on 27 July 2022

Do you have a laptop or mobile device that you no longer use?

The IT ReUse project is supported by a group of organisations in York, including York Council, who have shared goals in advancing the causes of digital inclusion, environmentalism and reuse. The project aims to provide free refurbished computers and mobile devices to the 15,000 people in York who risk getting left behind by the digital divide.

If you have a personal laptop or mobile device* that you no longer use, you can drop it off at one of the donation points across the city.

*Personal laptops or devices are items which you own. University managed devices must be returned to IT services or your Departmental Computing Officer, and cannot be donated to this project.

Don’t have anything to donate? You can still get involved as a volunteer on the project and there are opportunities to learn skills in IT repair and configuration. Find out how to get involved by visiting the York IT ReUse website.
