Volunteer with Nightline

Posted on 8 October 2021

York Nightline is a confidential listening, information and sexual health supplies service for students, by students.

Due to the pandemic, Nightline is currently open from 8pm to 2am every night of term. People can talk about anything they’d like, and Nightline can supply tampons, sanitary pads, condoms, dental dams, lubricant, personal attack alarms, chlamydia tests and pregnancy tests all free of charge.

Attend a taster session

Attend a taster session, where you can find out more about what Nightline does and the volunteer application process. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask any questions you might have. There are three taster sessions: one held in-person and two online (via zoom).

Upcoming taster sessions last around an hour, and are on:

  • ONLINE: Monday 11 October at 7.30pm
    Meeting ID: 966 7410 1999, Password: kevin-cow

  • Wednesday 13 October at 6pm
    Room: P/T/006

  • ONLINE: Thursday 14 October at 6pm
    Meeting ID: 991 9324 7182, Password: kevin-cow

Training weekends run once a term - these provide you with all the skills necessary to volunteer with Nightline. Places on training weekends are limited. We are sadly unable to train everyone who shows an interest in volunteering with us, even though we would like to. Unfortunately we are unable to train final year students as listening volunteers.

Nightline demands a real commitment from all of its members and the decision to train shouldn't be taken lightly, but it's also a great bunch of people to get to know, and the training weekend in particular should be enjoyable.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact: training@york.nightline.ac.uk.
