Volunteer with Nightline

Posted on 24 February 2020

Come to a taster session this week to find out more.

York Nightline is a confidential listening, information and sexual health supplies service for students, by students, open from 8pm until 8am every night of term.

People can talk about anything they’d like by telephone, visiting the Nightline flat in Grimston House (Vanbrugh College), instant message, or email.

Become a volunteer

Come to a taster session, where you can find out more about what Nightline does and the volunteer application process.

Upcoming taster sessions in Week 8 last around an hour and are on:

  • Monday 24 February at 7:00pm in AEW/104 (Alcuin East Wing)
  • Tuesday 25 February at 7:00pm in P/T/007 (Physics)
  • Thursday 27 February at 7:00pm in D/L/037 (Derwent)
  • Friday 28 February at 7:00pm in PZA/106/107 (Piazza Building)

Please note: Nightline is unable to train final year students as listening volunteers.

There are training weekends once a term that provide you with all the skills necessary to volunteer. Nightline demands a real commitment from all of its members and the decision to train shouldn't be taken lightly, but it's also a great bunch of people to get to know, and the training weekend in particular should be enjoyable.
