Become a Friend of York Nightline

Posted on 21 May 2019

Support this student-led service and help run events for publicity and fundraising.

Contact Nightline, a confidential listening and information service, run by students for students.

Nightline is a confidential listening and information service, run by students for students. The service is available every night during term time between 8pm and 8am.

Friends of Nightline (FON) help run events, both for publicity (such as Freshers’ Fair) and fundraising (such as Charity Balls). There have been several successful events in the past year, including a Soul Candy club night and a Boxing Fundraising night and Nightline would love more FONs to get involved with promoting what they do.

Please note, if you attend the briefing session and then act in a public capacity as a FON, you will not be able to train as a listening volunteer in the future, as you will have publicly affiliated yourself with Nightline. If you will not be in your final year of study next academic year, please bear this in mind before applying to be a FON.

Who can get involved?

Anyone can become a FON. You'll be taught everything you’ll need to know about Nightline, publicity and events management in a half-day briefing session; the only requirement from you is a genuine interest in promoting what Nightline does.

This is a good opportunity for students who want to get involved but don't have the time to commit to listening shifts.

Application deadline: Wednesday 29 May 2019
