Learn to be an effective student in this series of interactive lectures.

The Writing and Language Skills Centre is hosting a series of four lectures to help you develop key academic skills. This lecture series is for all students: undergraduate, Masters and PhD students. 

Topics covered include:

Lecture 1: Why are we here?
Friday 18 October 2019
Develop an understanding of the rationale for university study and assessments in higher education.

Lecture 2: Academic Writing - what it is and how to do it
Friday 25 October 2019
How to approach academic writing assignments.

Lecture 3: Reading and thinking
Friday 1 November 2019
Approaching academic reading and learning how not to get distracted.

Lecture 4: Participating in learning
Friday 8 November 2019
How to communicate effectively in seminars/lectures/supervisions, etc.

Lectures are held 12pm - 2pm in Derwent College, D/L/028 (Hendrix Hall). You can attend one, some or all of the lectures. Places must be booked.
