Accommodation: on campus
Your accommodation will either be in Derwent College or Eden's Court.
Derwent College is located in the heart of Campus West, with Eden’s Court a short distance away. It’s close to the Library, study areas, campus bars and supermarket.
There are two campus bars in Derwent College - The Courtyard and D Bar - as well as Costa coffee where you can buy warm food and drinks. Derwent Junior Common Room is available, with comfy chairs, TV and a table tennis table.

When you arrive
If you are travelling in an organised group, you will be met by a member of Global Opportunities staff. If you are travelling independently, you can collect your key from Derwent College reception, which is open 24 hours a day. Please let us know in advance if you are going to be early or late. The charge for lost key cards is £10.
When you leave
You should leave your room by 8.30am on the day of departure. Please inform a member of Global Opportunities staff if you need somewhere to store your luggage. Make sure you leave your room clean and tidy.

Security
Campus is a safe community. We provide 24-hour security staff and 24/7 reception points close to each college.

Cleaning
Our cleaners help you keep your communal areas tidy. Please help them by preparing the areas in advance of your scheduled clean.
- Your bedroom and kitchen are cleaned once a week
- Your shared bathroom is cleaned every weekday
Washing facilities
Your nearest launderettes are located in Derwent B Block, E Block and K Block. Buy a laundry card from Derwent College reception.

Electrical equipment
Basic kitchen electric equipment is provided for you. Any other items you use in your kitchen or communal areas must be be Portable Appliance Tested - contact accommodation@york.ac.uk for more information.
If you bring electrical items from overseas to use in communal areas, please ensure that it conforms to EU standards. If it does not, we may remove it from your kitchen. Only use a British standard fused voltage adaptor with three rectangular blades, and never try to force another plug type into the socket.
- Cooking is not permitted in your bedroom
- Electrical heaters are not allowed
