Accommodation guarantee 2026/27

This page sets out our 2026/27 accommodation guarantee, explaining who is eligible for a guaranteed offer of University-owned and managed on-campus accommodation, or approved off-campus accommodation, along with key deadlines and conditions.

Accommodation applications for the 2026/27 academic year have not yet opened. We’ll update our accommodation webpages as soon as an opening date is confirmed.

Undergraduates

You’re guaranteed an offer of University-owned and managed on-campus accommodation, or approved off-campus accommodation in a single-occupancy room, if you meet the following conditions:

  • You choose York as a UCAS firm or insurance choice.
  • You are a new full-time, first-year undergraduate student (UK or International), applying for a single room for the full academic year.
  • You apply for accommodation by 5pm BST, 31 July 2026.
  • Your course offer becomes unconditional by 13 August 2026 (A-level results day).

Postgraduates

You’re guaranteed an offer of University-owned and managed on-campus accommodation, or approved off-campus accommodation in a single-occupancy room, if you meet the following conditions:

  • You are a new full-time, postgraduate student (UK or International), applying for a single room for the full academic year.
  • You accept your York offer and apply for accommodation by 5pm BST, 31 July 2026.
  • Have an unconditional offer by 5pm BST, 7 August 2026.

Undergraduate Visiting students

You’re guaranteed an offer of University-owned and managed on-campus accommodation, in a single-occupancy room, if you meet the following conditions:

  • Accept an unconditional offer to study at York for:

    - Semester 1 (September 2026) by 5pm BST, 30 June 2026, or

    - Semester 2 (February 2027) by 5pm, 30 November 2026.

Students who are not guaranteed accommodation

Clearing students

If you apply through Clearing (after A-Level results day on 13 August 2026), you will be eligible to apply for University-owned and managed on-campus accommodation, or approved off-campus options. More details will be provided in the summer of 2026. A limited number of options will be available, and while accommodation cannot be guaranteed, we will try our best to assist you in securing a place before your studies begin.

Later applicants

If you miss the application deadline (31 July 2026), you will not be guaranteed accommodation. However, you can apply for University-owned and managed on-campus accommodation, or approved off-campus options, from 13 August 2026 (A-level results day). Please note that a limited number of options will be available, and while accommodation cannot be guaranteed, we will try our best to assist you in securing a place before your studies begin.
