Below is an overview of ongoing initiatives and research projects dedicated to diversifying psychological science and improving the student experience.
- Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Incubator (EDIN) Project
Aims: To create an accessible hub for equality, diversity and inclusion activities within the Department. Funded by the Enhancing Research Culture Grant, the project facilitates research proposals that tackle diversity in academia.

- Minority Stressors: Achievement and Wellbeing
Aims: To explore how 'minority stressors', such as being the only person of colour in a room, impact self-efficacy, imposter syndrome, and academic outcomes for ethnic-minority students.

- Moving on Up: Classism in Postgraduate Study
Aims: To investigate how working-class students experience the transition to postgraduate study, specifically focusing on how class-based microaggressions and 'sense of belonging' differ across genders.

- Belonging and Community for Disabled Students
Aims: To understand why disabled students face higher attrition rates despite better accessibility. This project explores how building community and a sense of belonging can help close the outcome gap.

- BAME Students' Perceptions of Research
Aims: To improve engagement with psychological research. This project uses focus groups to create a framework and webinar to help researchers better involve BAME communities in their work.

- Exploring Differences Between BAME Communities
Aims: To identify specific variations in levels of student belonging among different sub-groups within the BAME umbrella. This collaborative project uses survey and interview data to design targeted activities that enhance the BAME student experience.

- BAME Students' Perceptions of University Curricula
Aims: To explore student perspectives on existing curricula across University of York departments. Led by student interns, this project has shared findings with stakeholders and at conferences to drive practical pedagogical changes and academic publications.

- The University of York Toolkit for Including Disabled People in Research
Aims: This toolkit was created to support and equip researchers, across all disciplines, with guidance to make their research practices more inclusive and accessible to disabled people. Our aim is to offer useful, practical and evidence-based guidance rooted in both lived experience and academic research.
