University appoints new Director of Human Resources

Dr Joss Ivory has been appointed as the University’s Director of Human Resources. She will be joining the University on Monday 11 September from Leeds City Council where she held the roles of Head of Human Resources and latterly Deputy Chief Officer HR.

Prior to joining Leeds City Council, Joss spent six years at Education Leeds, delivering a HR service across all sectors of Education Leeds and Leeds schools.

The early part of her career was spent primarily in the private sector, both in a senior HR management capacity and as a HR consultant delivering strategic HR projects​.​

Joss is an alumna of York, having achieved a First-Class degree in Psychology, followed by a PhD in Experimental Psychology from the University of Cambridge. Joss also holds a Diploma in HRM from ​​Henley Management College.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Koen Lamberts, said: “We are delighted that Dr Joss Ivory is joining us as Director of Human Resources. Her experience spans public and private sectors and she will bring a wealth of experience in succession planning and skills development to her role.

“The University of York has an excellent track-record in attracting high quality staff and our colleagues in human resources play a vital role in ensuring that the University continues to do so.”
